“Decompression” was created for surgeons specializing in the spine. The sensitive attention to detail can be seen in the gloved surgeon’s hand using kerrison forceps to remove bone. The spine is sculpted in remarkable likeness as to give the sculpture a pleasant surgical look to the operative procedure. The three main elements of “Decompression”, the hand, kerrison forceps & spine are masterfully encased in a beautiful environment which resembles bark. In order to provide the best possible viewing of “Decompression” the sculptor mounted it on an elevated 3-part black walnut base supplemented with verde marble.
